Privacy Policy
This policy explains what AI Catalog Optimizer reads, stores, processes, and writes for Shopify merchants.

Data the app reads
AI Catalog Optimizer reads Shopify product catalog data under the Shopify permissions granted by the merchant. This can include product IDs, handles, titles, status, vendor, product type, descriptions, SEO fields, tags, options, variants, metafields, media metadata, collection metadata, and product update timestamps.
Data the app writes
The app writes only merchant-approved product catalog updates. V1 supports title, description HTML, SEO title, SEO description, tags, and product metafields. Every writeback requires a visible diff and an explicit merchant action.
Data the app does not collect
AI Catalog Optimizer does not request or process customer data, order data, all-order history, payments, checkout data, discounts, or file contents in V1.
AI provider processing
Product catalog fields and audit findings may be sent to the configured AI provider to generate product suggestions and query explanations. AI is not used to calculate the AI Readiness Score, automatically apply changes, profile customers, or personalize customer experiences.
Storage and retention
The app stores Shopify sessions, shop records, app settings, product snapshots, audit runs, findings, suggestions, AI call metadata, query simulations, jobs, and ChangeLog entries in a protected PostgreSQL database. ChangeLog records are kept so merchants can audit what was changed, when it changed, and which suggestion was applied.
Uninstall and deletion
When the app is uninstalled, the app clears stored access credentials and sessions. Shopify privacy webhooks are handled for customer data requests, customer redaction, and shop redaction. Because V1 does not collect customer data, customer privacy webhook responses acknowledge that no customer data is stored by the app.
Security
Production secrets are stored outside the source repository and referenced through cloud secret storage. The app uses HTTPS in production and Shopify-authenticated requests for embedded Admin app access.
